Aspirin and Ovarian Cancer / by Pamela Garland

Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in women, primarily because it is not detected until late in its development. Recent studies show it may be linked to inflammation and a low-dose aspirin or other NSAID taken daily reduces the risk of developing ovarian cancer by as much as 30% and may decrease the mortality rate by as much as 10% for those that have already been diagnosed with the disease. It should be noted however that taking a daily dose of regular strength aspirin, 325 milligrams, indicated an increased risk. Many women who are at an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease already take a low-dose aspirin daily.
